Each carrier is totally disassembled, cleaned and then all the parts are inspected. Once disassembled, we check for the following:
- Technically GM calls these 10 bolts 7 5/8 or 7.6 for short
- Broken cam gear
- Stripped governor teeth
- Worn out case holes
- Worn out clutch packs
- Spun bearing journals
- Worn or galled cross shaft and pitted side or spider gears
The carrier is carefully re-assembled, setting the internal end play back to within GM specifications. The old side bearings are removed and a new set of Timken side bearings are installed along with new bearing races. It comes with a new GM cross shaft bolt, then its carefully packaged and sent back to you for installation.
